Understanding results: no mutations found

Genetic testing technology has inherent limitations—no test can fully translate and interpret all genetic information.

Even when no variants are found, this doesn't completely rule out the possibility of carrying a variant with personal or reproductive implications. Rather, a "no variants found" or "negative" result indicates a lower likelihood of carrying a variant in the tested genes.

For instance, with extended carrier screening that shows no variants, while having a child with a genetic condition remains possible, the risk is substantially lower than the general population risk.
